THE DAYS 歲月, from director BOI KWONG is based on a true story and tells the tale of Singapore’s young street gangs between 1989 and 1990. In a misguided effort to teach BABY (IVAN LIM 林殿文) independence, and to make him feel protected, ZI LONG (JUSTIN CHAN 陳嘉健) brings him into his own gang of delinquents, introducing him to a very dark world.
The director BOI KWONG wanted to establish an impression that the film was based on a comic, and hence introduce the main characters of the movie, as well as expressing certain key scenes and plot points as ‘freeze frame’ comic illustrations. With this direction set, MOJO directed and animated all the graphic animation sequences within the movie, working closely with illustrator SOKKUAN TYE to create a unique look that served to enhance the entire film. The result was reviewed by THE STRAITS TIMES as "an exciting, comic-book inspired visual style that will remind viewers of the Oscar-nominated City of God."
